Approximately 320,000 visitors will visit London in July for the 2012 Olympics. They will compete for 140,000 hotel rooms according an estimate by the UK Government. According to Hotels.com, a typical London hotel room during the Olympic Games will cost 210 pounds a night, which is more than double the average room rate of 103 pounds last year.
Some Londoners see an opportunity to make money by offering furnished rooms in their homes. Others are going one step further by offering their backyards for temporary accommodations, complete with free English breakfast, according a story by Chris Spillane on Bloomberg.com.
